Founding Motto and Educational Philosophy
The origins of Musashino Gakuin School can be traced to 1912, with the foundation of Ohashi Kindergarten in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. In 1920, Ohashi Girls’ School of Home Economics was established in the same location and in 1922, Musashino Girls’ High School was founded in Nishigahara, Tokyo. “Rewarding kindness, and giving thanks” (ho-on kansha) was the founding motto at the time. The purpose of founding these Musashino Gakuin Schools was to help female students to acquire occupations, enhance their integrity, and assist them in developing disciplined minds.
To further embody this founding spirit in higher education, Musashino Gakuin University was established in 2004, subsequent to the creation of Musashino Junior College in 1981. Since then, we have continued to provide highly-motivated students with unique opportunities to autonomously acquire advanced knowledge and skills to deepen their scholarly expertise.
